ABOUT
SYDNEY LANDIS is a flutist based in the greater Los Angeles area. She is currently a Music Major at Pasadena City College where she is studying under the tutelage of Professor Jamie Pedrini. Sydney has been a contributing member of PCC’s chamber ensembles, with performances including Haydn’s London Trio No. 1, Holst’s Terzetto, and Piazolla’s Café 1930. As Principal for PCC’s Orchestra, her recent concerts have included Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, Dvorak’s New World Symphony, and Tchaikovsky’s Pathétique Symphony.
At PCC, Sydney earned one of the highest honors, the Faculty Honors Extraordinaire Award. This award is not given out every year and represents an individual's outstanding musical and academic achievement. She also received honors in Music History, Orchestra, and Chamber Music, and was the winner of PCC’s Concerto Competition in the Spring of 2023. Sydney will be continuing her musical studies this Fall at Mount Saint Mary's University, with a full tuition scholarship. Her career goals include becoming an educator, performer, and recording artist.
Currently, Sydney is a contributing member of the Chamber Ensemble, Caelum Sonatine (Heavenly Trio), that performs arrangements of various video game soundtrack favorites. Sydney is also collaborating with composer Conrad Burnham, on an experimental project, details coming soon.
